A Truly Student-Led School Film

Tower College wanted to create a school film that reflected one of the most important parts of its ethos: giving pupils a voice.

Rather than simply making a film about the pupils, we saw an opportunity to make one with them.

Working alongside the Feel Good Films team, pupils became part of the creative process — developing ideas, writing scripts, performing on camera and experiencing the different roles involved in bringing a professional film production to life.

Behind the Camera

The project gave pupils the opportunity to explore filmmaking far beyond acting in front of the lens.

Students experienced roles including directing, camera operation, sound, writing and performance, working alongside our professional crew throughout the production.

The result was more than a finished school film. It became an immersive learning experience that encouraged creativity, communication, teamwork and confidence, while giving pupils a glimpse into opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.

For some children, it was also an opportunity to step outside their comfort zone, contribute ideas and discover talents they hadn't previously explored.

The Impact

The finished film captures the character and energy of Tower College, but we're equally proud of the experience behind it.

The school described the project as making a “lasting positive impact” on its pupils, while Principal Ms Bingley highlighted how children grew in confidence and were empowered to take on new challenges throughout the process.

Tower College has since created a dedicated area of its website celebrating the project, including the finished work, behind-the-scenes content and reflections from pupils themselves.
